The Health Department is required by a Metro Council ordinance to radon test all Metro owned and occupied buildings and all Metro Nashville Public Schools. The Health Department follows an EPA approved testing process that includes re-testing rooms where there is an initial test result of 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) or greater. What follows are the most recent test results listed by each Metro Department.
The EPA recommends that action be taken to reduce levels if the concentration of radon is 4 pCi/L or higher, but does not suggest avoiding these areas while efforts are underway to reduce the levels.
For further information, call 615-340-5653. Additional information about radon is also available at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
