Ryan White Part A is overseen by a planning council appointed or established by the Chief Elected Official (Mayor) with responsibility to assess needs, establish a plan for the delivery of HIV care in the area, and establish priorities for the use of Part A funds. The Ryan White Part A legislation requires planning councils to have members from various types of groups and organizations, including people living with HIV who live in the targeted grant area. A key function of the planning council is to provide the consumer and community voice in decision-making about medical and support services to be funded with the TGA’s Ryan White Part A dollars.
The Nashville Regional HIV Planning council was established under the authority of Mayor Bill Purcell of Nashville in 2017. The Nashville Regional HIV Planning Council includes the following counties: Cannon, Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Hickman, Macon, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson, and Wilson.
