The Epidemiology, Data, and Statistics program provides health information, consultation, and education to the community so that it can create sound health policy and assure best practices.
The program provides technical support for program evaluation throughout the department. It also monitors and evaluates the quality of the healthcare delivery system in Nashville. Studies are conducted by request for programs within the Metro Public Health Department and for external organizations.
Furthermore, the program collects, assembles, and analyzes health status and health surveillance data in Nashville. It publishes reports on the health status of Davidson County residents based on data from birth and death certificates, notifiable disease data, and youth and adult health risk surveys.
Any questions about these reports should be directed to the Chief Epidemiologist.
