In observance of National Cheer Up the Lonely Day on July 11, Metro Animal Care and Control is waiving adoption fees for all dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals through July 14.
"Pets help prevent loneliness because they offer companionship, unconditional love, and acceptance. Shelter staff and volunteers know the joy that pets bring to families and are eager to help adopters find the right match for their home," said Dr. Staci Cannon, Metro Animal Care and Control Medical Director. "Whether you're looking for a cuddly couch potato or a running buddy, we have adoption counselors ready to serve as matchmakers to find the best fit for your family."
Metro Animal Care and Control's regular adoption fees are as much as $90.00. All adopted cats and dogs will come spay/neutered, microchipped and started on initial vaccinations. Photos of available animals can be viewed by going to 24PetConnect and entering zip code 37211.
If residents are not able to adopt, they can still help cheer up lonely animals by providing a safe and loving environment to shelter residents by becoming a foster parent for a week. Pet fostering is flexible enough for most lifestyles and all veterinary care, medication and care supplies are provided by Metro Animal Care and Control. Community members are also invited to take a dog on a Bow Wow Breakout, which is a short-term fostering opportunity that can last anywhere from an hour to an overnight sleepover.
Metro Animal Care and Control is open seven days-a-week for adoption from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., with special evening hours on Thursday until 6:00 p.m. MACC is located at 5125 Harding Place, Nashville, TN 37211.
