To better protect the health of our employees and the community, some changes are now in effect with many Public Health Programs.
Home visits are now limited. Metro Public Health will contact participants in those programs with further information on how we will proceed. If an in-person meeting is required, families will be asked several questions about possible infection or exposure in the interest of Metro Public Health employee safety.
Additionally, several program-specific changes are outlined:
WIC Program
The Women Infants and Children (WIC) program is conduction all services by phone. Services do require an appointment.
Metro Public Health Dental Program
The Lentz Dental Clinic is not making appointments. Patients are asked to call the clinic at 615-340-5601 to determine if emergency dental work is needed.
Metro Animal Care and Control
Metro Animal Care and Control is no longer accepting owner surrenders. Owners considering relinquishing their pets are asked to contact the Pet Safety Net team at 615-862-4017 or email [email protected]..
Adoption, reclaim and foster services will only be conducted by appointment to limit person-to-person contact.
Animal Control Officers will only be answering emergency calls.
Environmental Health Program
Environmental Health Specialists are working to enforce the Public Health Emergency Declaration, ordering the closure of bars and limited capacity at restaurants.
Extensive efforts are also being made at Metro Public Health Department facilities to ensure workers and the public are safe. Increased cleaning, rearranging of work stations and conference rooms, and the use of technology are all a part of the strategy being deployed to limit person-to-person contact and facilitate social distancing. Preparations are also being made to ensure the equipment and supplies needed to keep employees safe are available and in stock.
