The Long Range Planning team works to improve Nashville’s livability by focusing on the unique qualities of our physical environment and building on those qualities to strengthen our neighborhoods, corridors, and districts. The team accomplishes this by implementing the vision of NashvilleNext, and the Growth & Preservation Concept Map.
The team updates and amends Community Plans for the fourteen large planning communities within Metro Nashville/Davidson County, and for neighborhoods, centers, corridors, and other smaller study areas within them.
Long Range Planning in Nashville is a collaborative process. Planners with community stakeholders on Local Planning Studies. This process seeks to balance the often competing needs of a wide variety of stakeholders to arrive at a common community vision. The team works diligently to create up-to-date plans that put community involvement at the center of the planning process, that shape growth that preserves our city’s character, and that yield development that reinforces and enhances Nashville’s uniqueness.
Our team has extensive training and experience in planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, and transportation planning. They are uniquely qualified to provide recommendations on appropriate site layout, building types/details, site transitions, streetscape elements, and context within the larger area.
