On February 14, 2023, the Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) deemed the property at 3230 Brick Church Pike, comprising a 42,317 square-foot building and 10.4 acres of land, surplus. The property is located on a parcel of land hemmed in by I-24 W to the west, Briley Parkway (TN State Route 155) to the north, and Brick Church Pike to the east. Presently, it functions as an emergency shelter operated by Metro Social Services during inclement weather. Before this, it housed the Nashville Academy of Computer Science. In its earlier history, it was Brick Church Middle School.
About the Study
Nashville Planning has collaborated with stakeholder Metro departments and engaged with the local community to pinpoint specific community needs and address existing gaps. This effort includes reviewing relevant master plans, capital improvement requests for projects near the site, a comprehensive market analysis, and establishing a dedicated stakeholder committee to provide project support.
Metro will hire a consulting team to conduct an in-depth feasibility study of the Brick Church Pike site. This study will also assess the potential repurposing of the existing building and explore various uses for the surrounding land. As with all Planning studies, the staff aims to incorporate all stakeholder and community input cohesively.
Community Drop-Ins
On October 19, 2023, Planning staff hosted a drop-in meeting to review potential uses for the site.
