Nashville Fire Department Fire Investigators charged Michael Doig, 43, with Aggravated Arson for setting fire to a unit at Rodeway Inn located at 95 Wallace Road on Friday, March 5, 2021.
Around 9:10 a.m. Metro Department of Emergency Communications Dispatchers sent Nashville Fire Department personnel to the Rodeway Inn for a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived and found a fire in one of the second-floor rooms.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to neighboring rooms. Fire Investigators arrived on scene to begin their investigation. They determined the fire was incendiary in nature and was intentional.
Witnesses at the motel told investigators they saw a white male leaving the second-floor unit as smoke detectors were activating and smoke started coming from the unit. Investigators obtained video footage from the scene and were able to identify Doig as the man witnesses saw leaving the scene of the fire.
There were no injuries reported to the public or personnel as a result of the fire.
Fire Investigators located Doig on Anthes Drive in Nashville and he was taken into custody on Monday, March 8, 2021.
Doig is charged with Aggravated Arson a Class “A” Felony. He remains in the Davidson County Jail in lieu of $200,000.00 bond.
