3838 Old Hickory Blvd. Surveillance Video
Nashville Fire Department Fire Investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify a person caught on surveillance video setting fire to Grandaddy’s Original Hot Chicken Shack located at 3838 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville, TN 37138 on February 21, 2021.
Metro DEC Dispatchers sent Nashville Fire Department personnel to Grandaddy’s Original Hot Chicken Shack around 4:00 am Sunday, February 21, 2021 for a reported structure fire.
NFD crews arrived and found a fire burning outside of the business, however sprinklers inside the building extinguished the fire inside of the restaurant prior to NFD’s arrival.
NFD Fire Investigators determined the fire was incendiary and was intentionally set. Surveillance video from the area shows a small white SUV, which appears to be a Ford Escape arrive outside the business around 4:06 a.m.
A person gets out of the vehicle, pulls two containers and what appears to be a bag out of the back of the SUV.
The person then retrieves what appears to be a tire iron from inside the passenger compartment of the SUV. The suspect then uses the tire iron to break out the glass on the front of the restaurant.
The person then pours an accelerate from the two containers into the front of the business. The person pulls something from the backpack and sets fire to the business.
The ignition of the fire is so large the flame can be seen flashing out of the front of the business and onto the suspect who quickly runs to the SUV and drives away.
The rear license plate of the vehicle is covered by something to hide the license plate number.
The NFD wants to apprehend the person seen in the video setting the fire before they can cause more damage to this business or set other fires.
