The Watershed Game
The Watershed Game, pictured below, helps students understand the relationship between land uses within a watershed, water quality, and their community.
The Game emphasizes collaboration and cooperative decision-making, persuasive argument, teamwork, and leadership skills along with science and math.
The EnviroScape
The EnviroScape (pictured below) is a hands-on model of a watershed, complete with streams and a lake, a hill, neighborhoods, roads, houses and bridges, and a farm – just like Nashville. The model can be used to explore the movement of water over the landscape, to model erosion and solutions, to demonstrate how pollutants move from our neighborhoods and yards and into our waterways, to experience how trees and grass absorb water and reduce flash flooding, and more.
Teachers can borrow the EnviroScape for up to two weeks at a time, at no charge. While the model is perfect for free-form exploration and experimentation, we do provide some EnviroScape activity suggestions.
