Participant Selection
Applying for this pilot does not mean you will automatically be selected to participate.
Metro Waste Services will select 750 households to participate in the pilot program. To ensure quality of data gathered, Waste Services will select participants that reflect Nashville's diverse communities.
All applicants will receive an email notification with their acceptance status by early October.
All participants will receive a Food Scraps Pickup kit that includes:
- One Zero Waste Nashville 1.8-gallon countertop food scraps collection container
- One Compost Nashville 4-gallon green curbside bin
- A guide to collecting food scraps for recycling in your primary language
- A collection calendar in your primary language
What You’ll Do as a Participant
- Reduce your food waste by collecting compostable materials weekly and setting out your curbside bin for collection for one full year. *
- Share your experience through our quarterly feedback form.
- Join other participants in at least one feedback focus group during or immediately following the pilot period.
*Going out of town? No problem. Participants may skip weekly collection if needed. However, participants that skip collection or do not set their curbside bin out on a regular basis demonstrating lack of participation may be removed from the pilot.
