Metro Water Services views public health as a core part of our mission. We consistently provide safe, reliable water services that meet or exceed all state and federal standards for public health, including compliance with the Lead and Copper Rule.
In January 2021, the EPA issued revisions to the Lead and Copper Rule. The strengthened rule better protects children and communities from the risks of lead exposure by better protecting children at schools and childcare facilities, removing lead pipes, and empowering communities through information.
In response to the strengthened rules, Metro Water Services began the P.I.P.E. Program.
Prevent - We prevent metals from leaching into water by properly balancing water chemistry.
Inform - We inform our community through our website and service line inventory.
Protect - We protect health with extensive sampling in the community and at schools and day cares.
Eliminate - We will eliminate the risk with the removal of lead service lines.
Prevent: Corrosion Control Program
Inform: Water Service Line Inventory
Protect: Lab Analysis and Service Line Testing
Eliminate: Service Line Replacement
