Metro Water Services and the Metro Beautification and Environment Commission will be celebrating Arbor Day on Wednesday, March 22, at East Park Community Center.
The celebration will include remarks from Mayor John Cooper. Memorial Trees will be dedicated to Dr. T.B. Boyd III, Ralph Emery, Tallu Quinn and Patricia Wallace.
Arbor Day is a day for people to come together in recognition of the wonders of trees. Nashville celebrates by joining together to plant commemorative trees, hand out free tree seedlings, provide education on tree planting and care, and celebrate all the benefits trees provide.
Memorial trees will be donated by the Nashville Tree Foundation and tree seedlings will be given away by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry.
The Metro Tree Advisory Committee works to promote tree planting and preservation throughout the city. Additionally, the city and local tree organizations are working on the Root Nashville Tree Planting Campaign to plant a half a million trees by 2050.
