How the Low Barrier Housing Collective Works

Become a Member

Fill out our online interest form to connect with a Low Barrier Housing Collective staff member. After submitting an interest form, a Low Barrier Housing Collective staff member will reach out to schedule a short personalized orientation on accessing member benefits and how to start receiving applicant referrals. During the orientation, you as the property owner or landlord will determine which specific screening criteria you will adjust for clients served by the Collective. A membership agreement will be signed and you will receive a welcome packet which can be shared with your property management team.

List Properties with the Collective

During your personalized orientation, you will also be able to provide information about your property regarding location, unit sizes, amenities, and availability. This information will be accessible to our service provider community who are assisting their clients with transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing. Availability information is requested from our Low Barrier Housing Collective members twice per month and this information is shared with our service provider community on our website. A list of service providers will be provided to property owners and/or landlords so that each applicant has a direct point of contact for support during the application process.

Receive Screened Applicant Referrals

Based on the provided screening criteria, service providers will match their clients with suitable housing options. When a client is matched with your housing option, a service provider case manager will assist their client with submitting an application, with the expectation that the owner and/or landlord, as a Low Barrier Housing Collective member, will apply the modified screening criteria during the application process.
