Dymin R. Cannon, Housing Navigation Coordinator for the Office of Homeless Services, moved to Nashville in 2014 to study political science at Tennessee State University. Since arriving, she has seen affordable housing in Nashville become nearly nonexistent. Under her alma mater motto of think, work, server, Dymin has dedicated her time to reducing homelessness and housing insecurities throughout the Nashville community. With over ten years of experience working with the unhoused and five years devoted to finding housing for individuals experiencing category one homelessness, her training in motivational interviewing helps those she serves to see a future brighter than their current circumstances. Her honest empathy allows her to effectively advocate for the unhoused with property owners, getting them to see homelessness as a systemic issue vs. a personal flaw.
