From November 29 to December 6, 2024, Metro Nashville's Emergency Overflow Shelter served a total of 1,308 people, with 516 unduplicated individuals seeking refuge from the cold. "Our team's commitment to serving our unhoused neighbors goes far beyond office hour," said April Calvin, Director of the Office of Homeless Services. "The dedication and compassion they demonstrate by operating the cold weather shelter—often after hours and above their daily responsibilities—is nothing short of extraordinary. This effort embodies the heart of our mission, ensuring that individuals facing the cold find warmth, safety, and dignity. I am profoundly grateful for their unwavering service and their tireless efforts to make our community a more compassionate and inclusive place for everyone."
Guests expressed their gratitude with remarks such as, "Thank you for all you do for us," and "I love it here. I sleep so well. Y'all are doing a great job."

The Metro Emergency Overflow Shelter was open for 7 days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dates are listed below.

Emergency Shelters are activated based on weather conditions with decisions made daily by noon. In cold weather months, the shelter opens when the temperatures reach 32 degrees or below for 3 consecutive hours.
Shelter Incidents
- Emergency Medical Services was called on 2 consecutive days for seizures with the same guest.
- One guest called Emergency Medical Services for himself during a mental health crisis.
- No other major medical emergencies.
Due to the safety and needs of the shelter population, no interviews or cameras will be allowed during shelter operation hours.

3230 Brick Church Pike
Open 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Activated when temperatures drop to or below 32°F for three consecutive hours.
Services include hot meals, snacks, a warm place to sleep, and pet-friendly accommodations (kennels provided).
Transportation
WeGo Central (400 Charlotte Avenue)
Arrive by 6:30 p.m. for the number 23B bus, departing from Bay 24.
Free Shuttle Service
Stops include West Nashville, Nolensville Pike Walmart, and additional routes in Hermitage.
Morning bus passes provided for return transportation.
Additional Shelter Options
Launch Pad Emergency Shelter
For unstably housed young adults (ages 18-24) in an LGBTQ+ affirming environment. Details provided upon registration via the Launch Pad website.
Daily Emergency Shelter options at Room In The Inn and Nashville Rescue Mission remain available.

Donations
Hygiene products are accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 3230 Brick Church Pike.
