The Trail Starts Here
Nature Center trailhead
The Nature Center trailhead is located at 5911 Old Hickory Boulevard, Ashland City. The yellow Sedge Hill Trail leaves from the nature center parking lot and weaves down into Henry Hollow. Please note, at this time, visitors will have to cross Henry Creek in order to hike Henry Hollow Loop.
Creekside Trailhead
Creekside Trailhead is located at 4111 Little Marrowbone Road, Joelton. After passing through the "Beaman Park" stone gates, immediately turn left. Creekside is the jumping off point for the popular Henry Hollow Loop, a two-mile trail that follows Henry Creek then rises to explore ridgetops.
Highland Trailhead
Highland Trailhead is also located at 4111 Little Marrowbone Road, Joelton. Pass through the "Beaman Park" stone gates and continue to the top of the ridge. Both Henry Hollow Loop and the longer Laurel Woods Trail are accessed at this point.
The Laurel Woods Trail
Beginning at the Highland Trailhead, the green Laurel Woods Trail winds through the hollows and ridges of the backcountry of Beaman Park for 12.5 miles and around 6 hours. Visitors can also cut the hike short by taking the orange Shortcut Trail, decreasing the hike to around 3.5 hours and 7.5 miles. Please note the following before embarking on the Laurel Woods Trail:
- Do you have enough food and water?
- Is your cell phone charged?
- Do you have enough daylight?
- Does someone know where you are?
