- Choose a Date. Metro Parks accepts event date requests 1 calendar year in advance. All dates are reserved on a first come, first served basis. Event dates are not confirmed until an event application has been received and approved by the Park Board. Once approved, you will be invoiced. Applicable Special Event Fees.
- Choose a park location.
- Submit a Special Events Application to the Special Events Coordinator in Metro Parks. If your 5K requires sound amplification, fundraising, or serving/selling alcohol Park Board approval must be granted 60 days in advance of proposed event date.
- Park Police must be contacted for hiring officers to close 5k courses. Upon approval of the Park Board, applicant must contact Park Police to discuss the hiring of officers. Park Police may be contacted at 615-880-3429.
- Contact Gordon Richard 615-862-8597 [email protected] and submit an application if your event route includes street closures or impacts public right of ways outside of a Metro Park. Applications can be downloaded on the Office of Film and Special Events page.
- It is the event organizers responsibility to provide all event elements and to make sure all elements are removed within 24 hours of event.
- Before a final Special Event Permit is issued, a $1,000,000 certificate of insurance policy naming Metro Parks and Recreation as additionally insured will also be required no later than 30 days prior to event.
- In planning the hours of your 5K please be aware that any part of the running course affecting roads or greenways must be completed by 9:00 a.m. There are no exceptions.
5K Runs/Walks in Nashville
Shelby Park
The course for this 5K begins at the Riverview Shelter, loops around Sevier Lake and extends into Shelby Bottoms Greenway. Parking is available for up to 1,000 cars. This is a beginners course.
Two Rivers Park
The route for the Two Rivers 5k begins at the reservable shelters area of the park. 5Ks at this location are limited to 600 cars due to limited parking in the Wave Country parking lot. This is a beginners/intermediate course that begins in Two Rivers Park and travels through the Two Rivers Greenway.
Warner Parks
Warner Parks are located 9 miles from downtown Nashville and covers 3,180 contiguous acres including Percy Warner Park and Edwin Warner Park.
