Friends of Warner Parks is dedicated to the preservation, protection, and stewardship of Percy and Edwin Warner Parks. It works to protect the natural and historical integrity of the area by supporting appropriate recreational activities, maintaining and enhancing its features, and promoting programs that inspire appreciation and conservation of the Parks. Friends of Warner Parks’ recent donation of 496 acres brings the total acreage over 3,100 acres.
Friends of Warner Park coordinates volunteer efforts throughout the Parks, including river clean-ups, invasive exotic removals, and trash pick-ups.The addition of Park property has taken volunteer efforts to a new level: Trail volunteers can be observed year-round not only maintaining current Park trails, but also updating new trails on the Burch Reserve. Scout groups, schools and other organizations interested in volunteering at Warner Park can call 615-370-8053 to receive more information.
In addition to coordinating thousands of volunteers, Friends is an active fundraiser for efforts throughout the Park. Fulfilling the Nature Center mission of environmental education, responsible recreation, and awareness,
Friends of Warner Parks hosts several special events throughout the year!
- Full Moon Picking Parties are held at the Percy Warner Park Equestrian Center during late spring, summer, and early fall. Local bands headline the event, but everyone is encouraged to bring an instrument to play. Beverages are included with the admission price, and food from local vendors is available for sale. For ticket information, call or email the Friends office at 615-370-8053. All sales benefit Friends of Warner Park!
- Our Hummingbird Happy Hour fundraiser takes place during peak migration on the Nature Center porches. Ticket sales benefit the Bird Information, Research and Data program, which studies birds through research projects in Warner Park as well as presents educational programs year-round.
Environmental educational programming at the Nature Center is also supported by Friends of Warner Parks. Funding supports the Nature Discovery Program, which engages community center youth in after-school programming, summer day camps, and fall campfires and night hikes. In addition, high school field labs, public programming and events, facility improvements and staffing are all financially supported in part by Friends of Warner Parks.
