Saturday, June 7 kicks off the 2025 Metro Parks Big Band Dance Series in Centennial Park. Sponsored by Metro Parks, Creative Parks Nashville, and Centennial Park Conservancy, the Big Band Dance is a fun, free event that takes place Saturday evenings in June, July, and August 2025. This event is in a new location this year – just across the park at the Centennial Park Bandshell (on the east side of the Park, near 25th Avenue North. People of all ages come to listen and dance to local swing and jazz music under the stars.
Each evening begins with free dance lessons by Dynamic Ballroom and Performing Arts at 7:00 p.m. Dance styles covered include Rhumba, Cha-Cha, Swing, Waltz, Foxtrot, and Two-Step. The band takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. A different band is featured every week, and a different dance style is emphasized.
This is a perfect family outing. All ages are welcome. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or quilts to sit on the lawn. Pack a picnic, buy dinner from a food truck or enjoy a cool Italian ice from Fratello’s on a hot summer’s night. Creative Parks Nashville (Metro Parks Music’s friend’s group) offers water and is on hand to answer questions. Sign up to receive Big Band notices. Parking map here.
