"Get Cultured!", Centennial Art Center’s annual international exhibit, celebrates Nashville’s diversity. This exhibit is a prelude to the Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival. Centennial Art Center (CAC) joins the festival in its goal to foster diversity in the city and throughout middle Tennessee. This year’s "Get Cultured!" art exhibit provides an exciting display of paintings, photography, ceramics, and fine-art drawings. "Get Cultured!" opens with an artists' reception featuring an international potluck on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This year, CAC is delighted to host a special dance performance by the Chinese Art Alliance of Nashville (CAAN) during the reception (dance performance begins at 6:00 p.m.). The "Get Cultured!" exhibit will remain on display through November 14, 2022.
This year's exhibit and dance features ten artists from eight different countries Bharati Kakkad (painting, India), Cathy Bouchez (photography, Belgium), Jana Rohlickova (ceramics, Czech Republic), Jonathan Stone (painting, United Kingdom), Nadine Shillingford (charcoal drawing, Dominica), Olga Alexeeva (painting, Russia), Radha Kirtane (Batik and painting, India) Vijay Makrandi (painting, India), Shalini Gupta (painting, batik and mixed-media, India), and Voymir Mustapich (painting, Croatia) and performers from the Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville (dances include: Long Silk Fan Dance, TaiChi Fan, Hu Xian Er, and Indigenous Dances of Taiwan). CAAN promotes and shares Chinese American arts, culture, and tradition with everyone. Although CAAN represents Chinese American Heritage, it does not represent any specific Asian country.
"Get Cultured!" provides the public with a unique opportunity to engage with international artists, hear their stories, and learn how their diverse cultural backgrounds influence their artwork. During the gallery opening, visitors can sample international dishes from different countries and cultures. Centennial Art Center is located at 301 25th Avenue North in the northeast corner of Nashville’s Centennial Park.
The Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This vibrant, multicultural festival offers free family fun and an authentic look at the customs and traditions of the many cultures within the Nashville community.
