As the holiday season approaches, Metro Parks is celebrating just a few of the many people and programs that help define our community and our department. Our seniors - our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, and even neighbors have helped us change the trajectory of our individual and collective lives - and for this we are thankful.
For the next few weeks, we are presenting advice from the many seniors who utilize our community centers to keep fit, socialize, and engaged on a regular basis. Their advice to the younger generation is thoughtful, sometimes funny, but always sincere and heartfelt. The seniors pictured in this series are from Hermitage, Elizabeth, Bellevue, Smith Springs, and other community centers. Our “Bridging the Gap” series will be presented on all the department’s social media platforms beginning today.
Although the younger generation has a lot to learn from their elders, there is a lot the older generation can learn from those that are much younger. Part Two of the series will present the advice that the younger generation has for those who are older.
We hope you enjoy the series. The Senior series will run first.
