Outstanding coordination between Homicide Unit and TITANS Unit detectives, along with MNPD Community Safety Center operators and Clarksville Police, led to last night’s arrest of Yariel Sandoval, 15, of Clarksville, for the December 1 fatal shooting of Ashley Dominguez, 18, outside an after-hours club on Murfreesboro Pike.
During the investigation, witnesses reported a heated argument took place prior to shots being fired at a car with five persons inside, including Dominguez in a rear passenger seat.
Dominguez and two other women (both age 19) were injured. Dominguez was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died. The two other women were treated and released.
Quick action by a Community Safety Center operator at MNPD Headquarters aided in capturing video footage of the fatal shooting and allowed for Sandoval to be developed as a suspect.
Sandoval was located in Clarksville and arrested on his outstanding warrants for criminal homicide, among other charges. The investigation continues as to potential other persons involved.
