Vehicle Tow and Releases
If your vehicle was stolen and has since been recovered and towed, it will need to be released prior to you picking it up. One of our staff will call you as soon as possible to discuss this process, the plan for processing your vehicle for evidence, and the plan for having the vehicle released. As long as you pick up the vehicle within 24 hours of us notifying you that the hold has been released, you will not be responsible for storage fees for any time it spends at the impound lot. Because all tows in Davidson County are performed by private wrecker companies, we are unfortunately unable to waive tow fees. For details on the amount owed on any given vehicle or other questions about how to pick up your vehicle, please contact the Police Vehicle Impound Section. Answers to many common questions and their contact information is available at Police Vehicle Impound Section. The Vehicle Impound Section cannot release a vehicle.
