The Mentoring Program was established to assist in the early stages of a police officer’s career. This includes any Pre-Hire assignments and the transition from Trainee to Police Officer I at the Training Academy. During this time, each Trainee is assigned a Mentor, who is a more experienced police officer. The Mentoring Program assists the Training Academy with the overall goal of successful completion at each phase. The Training Academy provides guidelines to be followed by Mentors, so the integrity of the training phase is not compromised. These guidelines are adhered to by all Mentors. Any recommendations are forwarded to the Program Coordinator to ensure those issues are being supported.
