A 19-year-old who was free on bond awaiting trial in two separate murder cases is back in jail after he was identified as the person who shot a 23-year-old male acquaintance in the hand at Mill Ridge Park on Old Hickory Boulevard Friday evening, and pointed a gun at the 23-year-old’s cousin.
Given Oswaldo Corado’s perceived continuing danger to the community, detectives from several MNPD components, including the Specialized Investigations Division and SWAT/Special Response Team, worked to locate him after two new aggravated assault warrants were sworn out early Saturday morning. Saturday night, Corado was at the Wal-Mart parking lot in La Vergne. MNPD units, in coordination with La Vergne Police, moved in and took him into custody by way of a vehicle jam conducted by SWAT officers. He was taken to the Downtown Detention Center and booked. A judicial commissioner set bond at $150,000 on the two new warrants.
Corado was arrested at age 16 on December 16, 2020, and charged with criminal homicide for the fatal shooting of Lee V. Turner Jr., 22, earlier that day outside the Tornado Bus Station on Nolensville Pike. He was subsequently charged in 2021 with a second case of criminal homicide for the November 16, 2020, fatal shooting of Alexander Presley, 34, as Presley sat in his car in the driveway of his Weaver Drive home.
The criminal homicide cases were transferred from Juvenile Court to Criminal Court. As part of his bond conditions, Corado was on an ankle monitor and was to not be around any guns.
