Quick action between a carjacking victim and a good Samaritan today aided in the suspect’s apprehension at Lucky’s Custom Wheels & Tires on Lafayette Street.
Just before 10 a.m. the female victim was waiting in her red Kia Forte to have brake work done at the business when the suspect, Cedric Taylor, 27, approached her on foot and began punching her, demanding money. Taylor pulled the woman from her Kia and she ran into the business for help.
Before Taylor could put the car in drive, the owner of the business ran to the Kia, busted the driver’s side window with the victim’s permission, and forced Taylor out through the passenger side.
The owner and another witness detained Taylor until officers arrived on scene.
The victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries to her face and arm.
Taylor was charged with carjacking.
