Chief John Drake today announced the promotion of 26 men and women, all veteran law enforcement professionals, to new leadership and supervisory roles effective December 1.
"These 26 individuals represent 335 years of dedicated service to Nashville's families and are clearly ready to advance in their law enforcement careers with this police department," Chief Drake said.
Commander Preston Brandimore, a 25-year police department veteran who currently oversees the Custom Services Division (Special Events and Secondary Employment), is being promoted to the rank of inspector in the Support Services Bureau. Brandimore holds a Bachelor's Degree from Harding University.
Captain Raymond Jones, a 17-year police department veteran who currently oversees the Traffic Division, is being promoted to the rank of commander and will oversee the Custom Services Division. Jones holds a Bachelor's Degree from Tennessee State University.
Captain Bill Watkins, a 27-year police department veteran who currently oversees the recently expanded Criminal Investigations Division, is being promoted to the rank of commander and will continue overseeing CID. Watkins holds a Bachelor's Degree from Edinboro University.
Lieutenant Keith McNamara, a 16-year police department veteran who is currently assigned to the administration of the Investigative Services Bureau, is being promoted to the rank of captain and will oversee the Facilities Management Division. McNamara holds a Bachelor's Degree from Columbia Southern University.
Sergeant Harrison Dooley, a 16-year MNPD veteran who is currently a supervisor in the Community Crimes Section, is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will lead the Midtown Hills Precinct's day shift. Dooley holds a Bachelor's Degree from The Citadel.
Sergeant Matt Howlett, a 27-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned the Accreditation Section, is being promoted the rank of lieutenant and will oversee all accreditation processes. Howlett holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Alabama.
Sergeant Chad Young, a 16-year MNPD veteran who is currently a supervisor in the Homicide Unit, is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will head the Fraud Unit. Young holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Carolina.
Officer Alberta Auguste, a 9-year MNPD veteran who currently is assigned to the Midtown Hills Precinct's Crime Prevention Unit, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor in the the Alternative Policing Strategies component. Auguste holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Officer Riley Brewer, a 7-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Specialized Investigations Division's TITANS Unit, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a TITANS supervisor. Brewer holds a Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University.
Officer Eric Burford, an 11-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to South Precinct patrol, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the MDHA Task Force. Burford holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Memphis.
Officer Cheri Cox, a 6-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to Hermitage Precinct patrol, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the Madison Precinct's evening shift. Cox holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Officer Steffani Dahlstrom, a 6-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Youth Services Division, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the Midtown Hills Precinct's day shift. Dahlstrom holds a Bachelor's Degree from Austin Peay State University.
Officer William Dean, a 12-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Special Response Team, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the North Precinct's evening shift.
Officer Daniel Fuentes, a 6-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Recruitment Unit, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the Madison Precinct's evening shift. Fuentes holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Mississippi.
Officer Michael Gray, a 17-year MNPD veteran who is currently assigned to the Community Crimes Section, is being promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be a supervisor on the East Precinct's day shift.
