Violent Crimes Division detectives last night arrested convicted felon Christopher Watson, 23, after he fled from officers twice with a gun and narcotics, including fentanyl, inside his Tesla. The Tesla fled from an attempted traffic stop Tuesday night on Haywood Lane at Apache Trail and was spotted again Wednesday morning where a second traffic stop was initiated.
The Tesla fled at a high rate of speed, but was ultimately disabled by detectives on Century Farms Boulevard. Watson got out of the driver's seat and fled on foot. He was quickly taken into custody.
Watson had a large bag of narcotics, which included 25 grams of crack cocaine, 23 grams of methamphetamine, 9 grams of powder fentanyl, 120 fentanyl pills, Xanax, and marijuana. He also had a loaded handgun and more than $2,300 cash in his jacket.
Watson, who was convicted of selling fentanyl in 2023, was charged with five counts of drug possession, three counts of evading arrest, being a felon in possession of a weapon, felony weapon possession, drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. He remains jailed this morning on $137,000 bond.
