Convicted felon Dejuan Bell was rearrested last night by TITANS Unit detectives after they saw him conduct an illegal narcotics transaction in Cayce Homes. Bell, 33, who pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter for his involvement in a 2018 homicide case, also was convicted of felony evading arrest last year, and was on TDOC probation at the time of his arrest yesterday.
Detectives saw Bell exit the driver’s seat of a Nissan Altima and walk up to a pickup truck to conduct drug transactions. As detectives approached Bell in an attempt to take him into custody, he fled on foot and threw a Glock pistol from his waistband.
Detectives recovered the gun, which was reported stolen in a 2022 motor vehicle burglary on 6th Avenue South, and arrested Bell. 164 grams of marijuana, 4.5 grams of cocaine, 4.2 grams of oxycodone pills, a digital scale and more than $2,100 cash was recovered from inside the Altima and on Bell’s person.
Bell admitted to selling drugs and carrying the firearm during an interview with detectives.
Bell was charged last night with theft of a firearm, criminal trespassing, driving on a suspended license, felony weapon possession, being a felon in possession of a firearm, misdemeanor evading arrest, drug paraphernalia and three counts of drug possession. He is currently jailed in lieu of $93,500 bond.
