Homicide Unit detectives, in coordination with Specialized Investigations and Special Victims Division detectives, are continuing to pursue active leads in Monday’s 5:30 p.m. fatal shooting of Alyssa Lokits, 34, on the Mill Creek Greenway off Old Hickory Boulevard. The investigation to this point indicates Lokits was exercising on the trail when witnesses heard her yelling for help.
Witnesses reporting seeing a man, possibly Asian, on top of Lokits before shots were fired. The suspect fled the parking area in a dark colored 4-door sedan towards Old Hickory Boulevard.
Lokits was discovered with a gunshot wound in the wood line. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.
Her car was located at another trailhead entrance on Pettus Avenue.
