Detectives are working to identify the gunman who Saturday at 9:20 p.m. shot and critically injured a female clerk at Dollar General, 541 Stewarts Ferry Pike, during a robbery.
The suspect entered the store and first demanded money from the cashier at gunpoint. They complied. He then forced another employee to open a safe. As the suspect was leaving, he turned and fired a single shot, striking a 38-year-old female employee in the abdomen.
Officers arrived and rendered aid until the woman was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where she is critical/stable.
The suspect is a black man who is approximately 6’2” tall with a thin build. He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt, stone wash jeans, and white Jordan tennis shoes. The suspect fled in an older model white sedan with a non-working passenger headlight. He is also suspected in the July 12th Dollar General robbery at 1801 Antioch Pike. No one was injured in that holdup.
Anyone with information about the suspect (surveillance photos attached) is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
