The driver of a Nissan Altima was killed in Thursday evening’s head-on crash on Thompson Lane. David B. Todd IV, 30, was driving his Nissan east in the center turn lane at a high rate of speed when for unknown reasons, he crossed into oncoming traffic striking a Toyota Camry head-on.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries.
There were no signs of impairment at the scene on part of the Toyota driver.
Todd was transported to Vanderbilt where he died. Toxicology testing will be conducted on Todd by the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine whether impairment was a factor.
