The Tenprint Unit is a part of the Identification and Administrative Section. With use of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), which stores fingerprint submissions of 590,000+ persons, and the Automated Record Management System (ARMS), this unit is responsible for researching fingerprints and related files to make identifications, conducting a thorough examination, and storing and retrieving criminal history data.
Additional duties Tenprint Examiners handle are providing fingerprinting services to the public and MNPD employees, identification of deceased, record corrections, and AFIS database maintenance.
