Update: The motorcyclist killed in this afternoon’s collision has been identified as Kyle Kotzen, 29, of Clarksville.
The motorcyclist killed in Friday’s 1:30 p.m. collision with a pickup truck in the 6300 block of Clarksville Pike is identified as a 29-year-old Clarksville man. Efforts are underway to notify his next of kin.
The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of an Isuzu pickup, Larry James, 76, was traveling west on Clarksville pike and attempted to turn left into his driveway when the motorcyclist, who was eastbound, struck the pickup.
This portion of the roadway does have a slight hill and the motorcyclist was cresting the hill prior to impact. According to a witness, James was turning at a very slow pace. There was no evidence/indication of impairment at the scene.
The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be failure to yield on the part of James. Investigators will attempt to determine the motorcyclist’s speed prior to staffing the investigation with the District Attorney’s Office.
