Update: The homicide victim from Monday night’s shooting in the Ramada Inn parking lot on Music Valley Drive is identified as Marisa Henegar Castillo, 45, of Antioch.
Homicide Unit detectives today will be swearing out an arrest warrant charging Delano Lamar Allen, 33, with Monday night’s murder of a woman outside the Ramada Inn on Music Valley Drive. Allen was arrested during the night on unrelated charges. The homicide victim is believed to be a 45-year-old Nashville resident. Confirmation of her identity is pending.
Hermitage Precinct officers responded to the Ramada Inn parking lot on a shooting call just after 6 p.m. Monday. The victim was dead on the scene.
The investigation, being led by Detective Tim Skopek, shows that Allen was on the Ramada Inn property when he walked toward a blue Mercedes sedan as it pulled into the parking lot. An altercation occurred between the female driver of the Mercedes and Allen, who are believed to have known each other. A shot was heard and the Mercedes was seen speeding away, leaving a body behind. Allen was identified as a potential suspect based on information developed at the scene.
At around midnight, Hermitage Precinct officers were flagged down by persons at a motel in the 800 block of Murfreesboro Pike concerning a man (Allen) fighting and attempting to steal a pickup truck. Allen used a shovel as a weapon as he attempted to steal the vehicle. Officers told Allen to stop as he tried unsuccessfully to enter another vehicle that was not his. Allen tried to run from the officers, who caught up to him and placed him into custody despite his continued resistance. Allen was charged during the night with three counts of assaulting police officers, two counts of attempted vehicle theft, aggravated assault against the owner of the pickup truck, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The blue Mercedes was found abandoned Monday night after the murder in a ditch on Antioch Pike. It was impounded.
