Update: The Nissan Cube has been recovered by detectives off of Louise Drive. The investigation to identify the carjacker/shooter continues.
Detectives are asking the public to be on the lookout for a Nissan Cube vehicle (photo attached) taken Wednesday night in an armed carjacking from the McDonald’s restaurant at 2212 Nolensville Pike. The carjacking occurred after the gunman tried to take another vehicle at gunpoint and shot that victim in the face.
The series of events began just after 10:30 p.m. when the first victim, a 41-year-old man, was in the drive thru line. He was approached on the driver’s side of his car by a gunman who attempted to carjack him. As the victim attempted to flee, he was shot once in the face. The victim circled the McDonald’s parking lot three times in a panic. As he did, he saw the gunman confronting a woman in her car parked in the McDonald’s lot. The victim drove his vehicle at the suspect, believing the woman to be in imminent danger. His car collided with the Nissan Cube, causing significant damage to the driver door area. The suspect was knocked off his feet. He got up, forcibly removed the 39-year-old woman from the Cube, got into the car and fled. The woman was uninjured. The first victim was taken to Vanderbilt for treatment. He is in stable condition.
Anyone seeing the Nissan Cube, which bore Tennessee license plate BDD9667 at the time it was taken, is asked to immediately contact police dispatch at 615-862-8600.
