The pedestrian killed Sunday night on I-65 south near the Rosa L. Parks Boulevard exit is identified as Romayne Soiseth, 73, of Turlock, California.
Officers were told that Soiseth had been traveling as a passenger in a vehicle for approximately 14 hours from California. Soiseth reportedly told the driver that he was feeling claustrophobic while they were in stop and go traffic on the interstate and got out. The driver said he attempted to get Soiseth to return to the vehicle before Soiseth jumped over the center concrete barrier and ran into the southbound lanes of I-65. He was hit and fatally injured by a southbound Ford Focus driven by a 23-year-old Nashville man. No charges will be placed.
