Update: The pedestrian fatally struck in Thursday night’s crash has been identified as Isaac Dodd, 42.
A pedestrian died following Thursday’s 9 p.m. crash on Bell Road near Cane Ridge Road. The preliminary investigation shows that the male pedestrian was attempting to cross Bell Road from east to west when he was struck by a northbound Chevrolet Equinox in the center turn lane.
The pedestrian, a 42-year-old man, was then struck in the southbound lane by the driver of a Nissan SUV who left the scene.
Efforts are currently underway to notify family of the deceased.
The 17-year-old driver of the Equinox reported she did not initially realize she’d hit a person and drove to a nearby gas station where she notified police. She was driving on a restricted license and there was a small amount of marijuana in the car, but she did not display any signs of impairment.
She was charged with violation of driver’s license restrictions, not having insurance and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
Anyone with information on the driver of the Nissan involved is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
