A 15-year-old who was critically wounded in the neck late Friday afternoon as he and a 16-year-old were playing with a pistol inside an apartment on British Woods Drive has died.
Bentley Delancy was visiting the 16-year-old when they both began to handle and play with a semi-automatic pistol that belonged to an 18-year-old. The gun went off and Delancy was hit in the neck. The 16-year-old provided first aid until an ambulance arrived and transported Delancy to Vanderbilt. He died Sunday night.
The police department’s Youth Services Division is leading the continuing investigation into the shooting and the circumstances in which the teens had access to the gun.
