Negotiation over a marijuana deal led to Thursday night's gunfire inside an apartment at the Avana Overlook complex at 727 Bell Road in Antioch that claimed the life of a 25-year-old resident. The victim died after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A chaplain is working to locate and notify his next of kin.
Through the investigation to this point, detectives believe the victim was intending to sell marijuana to three individuals who came to the apartment. An argument over the price reportedly took place before gunshots were heard.
Homicide Unit detectives are pursuing leads as they work to identify the three suspects. Anyone with information about them is asked to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
