The two drivers involved in a head-on crash on Briley Parkway at County Hospital Road late Thursday night were fatally injured. The preliminary investigation indicates James Mosley, 86, was traveling the wrong way (southbound in the northbound lanes of Briley Parkway) in a Dodge Dakota. Torrye Watson-Pamplin Jr., 24, was traveling northbound in the left lane in his Jeep Compass when it collided with the Dodge in a slight curve.
Both drivers died at the scene.
Both Mosley and Watson-Pamplin Jr. were wearing their seatbelts. There were no signs of impairment at the scene on the part of either driver.
Through today, 106 persons (31 of them pedestrians) have been killed in 99 Nashville fatal crashes during 2022. That is an 11.5% increase in fatalities and a 12.5% increase in fatal crashes over this time in 2021 (26 pedestrians had been killed year to date in 2021).
