Hermitage Precinct Detective Donovan Coble, shot in the side and critically wounded Thursday while engaged in a foot chase of a car burglary suspect, was discharged this evening from Vanderbilt University Medical Center to continue his recovery at home. Coble was greeted by a group of applauding officers as he walked out of the hospital just after 6 p.m.
The investigation into the shooting shows that the gun suspected car burglar Delama Casimir used to shoot Coble was stolen from the center console of an SUV parked at an airport area parking business for travelers. The owner of the SUV reported the gun stolen after returning to Nashville on Friday.
Casimir was shot in a confrontation with an MNPD SWAT officer about an hour after Coble was wounded. Casimir died at Vanderbilt on Thursday night.
