Amanda Sweet
Forensic Services Division DirectorAmanda Sweet graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2003 with a Forensic Science degree/Chemistry emphasis.
She began working at the Medical Examiner’s Toxicology lab in Frankfort, KY performing postmortem toxicology testing. While there she received a master’s degree from the University of Florida in Drug Chemistry (2006).
In 2008, she transferred to the Kentucky State Police Crime lab in the Toxicology unit. There she performed alcohol and drug testing in DUI cases.
In 2011, she was approached about helping a private toxicology lab get a new location up and running. This lab analyzed urine samples for compliance testing for pain management and rehabilitation clinics. She was the lab manager of that facility prior to joining the MNPD crime lab.
In September 2013, Amanda accepted the Toxicology supervisor’s position with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department Crime Lab. At this time the lab was still in the final stages of being completed. She was part of the team that moved instruments into the lab, developed new methods, hired staff, and began testing DUI cases for Nashville.
In 2019, Amanda was promoted to Crime Lab Assistant Director and in December 2021 became the Crime Lab Director, overseeing daily operations of all disciplines in the crime lab.
In December 2022, she became the Forensic Services Division Director which is comprised of the Crime Laboratory, Ten Print, and Crime Scene Investigation sections.
