Project Description
Status: begin 90% Design Phase
This project will bridge a sidewalk gap on Dickerson Pike, improving walkability and pedestrian safety. The project will install a new sidewalk to provide safe connections for people walking to neighborhoods and destinations for transportation and recreation.
The estimated construction start date is May 2025.
Vision Zero
This sidewalk project is located on the Vision Zero High Injury Network, with a high concentration of fatalities or serious injuries along the corridor. Specifically, pedestrians are most at risk along Dickerson Pike, with a higher-than-average representation of pedestrian injuries or fatalities occurring on the corridor. The segment of Dickerson Pike from Homestead Road to the Briley Pkwy ramp is also included in the Top 100 Priority Project list in the Vision Zero Implementation Plan.
WalknBike
This project is designed to bridge sidewalk gaps in the current network, enhancing connectivity and access to transit for pedestrians on Dickerson Pike. The segment of Dickerson from Homestead Road to the Briley Pkwy ramp was identified in the 2022 WalknBike plan as a project within the Priority Sidewalk Network for years 2022-2023.
