Project Description
Status: 60% Design Phase
The 60% design plans are pending approval and the bikeway design is pending approval from the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
This project will bridge a sidewalk gap on Murfreesboro Pike, improving walkability and pedestrian safety. It will provide safe connections for people walking to neighborhoods and destinations for transportation and recreation.
The estimated construction start date is May 2025.
Vision Zero
Murfreesboro Pike was identified in the Vision Zero Plan as one of the top 4 most dangerous streets for cyclists and pedestrians. This project is located along the High Injury Network and listed as a priority high injury street. Murfreesboro Pike consistently presents high pedestrian, motorist, and cyclist fatalities or injuries; these risks are compounded by the corridor being located in one of Nashville’s most vulnerable areas.
WalknBike
Murfreesboro Pike, including this segment, contains many Priority Sidewalk Network projects slated for construction in the 2022-2024 WalknBike work plan. This project will provide connectivity to the broader sidewalk network for pedestrians along Murfreesboro Pike and enhance safety throughout the corridor.
