Gary Mabry Jr., 45, is charged w/theft of an NFD ambulance, evading & resisting arrest, reckless driving, and criminal impersonation of a first responder, after he drove off in the emergency vehicle today from Summit Medical Center where he'd been hospitalized.
Mabry drove into Wilson County with lights and sirens activated. Once in Wilson County, Mt. Juliet Police officers began to pursue the ambulance. An MNPD helicopter crew also began following, relaying information to officers on the ground. After he returned to Davidson County, an MNPD officer successfully deployed spike strips. With flattened tires, Mabry continued to drive until he crashed into an apartment complex off of Stewarts Ferry Pike. Mabry fled on foot, ignoring repeated commands to stop. He was taken into custody after Mt. Juliet officers warned him that a canine officer would be released if he did not surrender. Mabry heeded the warning and was taken into custody.
Mabry collided with multiple vehicles in both counties. He is being held in lieu of $60,000 bond.
