MNPD missing persons detectives this afternoon located the body of Tarrance Williams Sr., 46, on the side of Interstate 24 between Briley Parkway and Old Hickory Boulevard. Due to the appearance that his death was caused by a hit and run collision, crash investigators responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation shows that on April 15 around 9:15 p.m.
Williams was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Briley Parkway. While walking from the scene, he called his sister. She heard him say an expletive prior to the phone going silent. She reported him missing on April 19th after she was unable to contact him. Using Williams’ cell phone data, detectives located his body lying on the eastbound side of Interstate 24, approximately 20 feet from the edge of the pavement down a slight embankment. There was no evidence at the scene indicating where Williams was standing/walking when he was struck. The Medical Examiner’s office will determine cause of death.
