MNPD’s special initiative to combat car theft and related crimes led to Thursday afternoon’s arrest of Thierry Bwenge and Omar Diouf, both 19, who face multiple charges related to an ongoing investigation into motor vehicle thefts, illegal drug sales, and firearms sales.
Diouf was taken into custody after leaving his Ransom Place residence. He refused commands to stop and fled on foot. He threw a loaded handgun to the ground as he ran and was soon captured. The gun, which had been reported stolen, was recovered. A 3D printed switch used to make a rifle automatic was found inside his pants.
Seized during the subsequent execution of a search warrant at the Ransom Place house were a 3D printer, five programmers, and hundreds of key fobs.
Bwenge was taken into custody near his Thornehill Drive residence. Seized during the execution of a search warrant at that residence were multiple firearm pieces, firearm magazines, munitions, drug paraphernalia, three bags of uncut key fobs, a car key programmer, a backpack containing psilocybin mushrooms, and a black key fob. Located in the garage were seven firearms wrapped in rugs. Two of the guns had been reported stolen.
Bwenge and Diouf and both charged with multiple counts of felony weapon possession, theft of a firearm, and possession of burglary tools. Bwenge remains jailed on $196,000 bond.
Diouf, who remains jailed on $160,000 bond, is also charged with auto theft. He is alleged to have been the driver of a stolen Infiniti G37 that detectives attempted to stop on Murfreesboro Pike on April 26th but the driver, identified as Diouf, fled and eluded capture.
