A driver has died following Wednesday’s 6 p.m. crash on White’s Creek Pike near the Fontanel property. The preliminary investigation indicates a Chevrolet Silverado truck was traveling south when it crossed over the double yellow line and struck a Volkswagen Taos head-on.
The Volkswagen was knocked into an embankment and traveled through a fence before coming to rest. The 54-year-old driver was transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Silverado, Michael Fernandez, 48, of White House, died at the scene. Toxicology testing will be conducted to determine if impairment was a contributing factor in this fatal crash.
